As psychoanalysts, we believe a person can resolve an emotional problem by talking to someone. This resolution is generally arrived at through meaningful and personal engagement with a health professional. The therapeutic engagement entered into allows for previously repressed painful memories to emerge, be expressed, and be understood in the safety of the supportive relationship with the analyst. The psychoanalytic work is attended to slowly and safely, with supportive techniques intended to create a safe soothing environment.
